How Long Should Your Voiceover Demo Reel Be?

A common mistake — for actors and for clients auditioning voice talent — is thinking a longer reel shows more range. In practice, casting directors and clients decide within the first 10-15 seconds whether to keep listening.

Aim for 60-90 seconds

A tight, well-edited reel with your strongest, most varied clips up front will get more attention than a 3-minute compilation. Cut anything that isn't your best work — a weak clip drags down everything around it.

Separate reels for separate styles

Keep commercial, character, and narration reels distinct rather than blending them into one. Clients searching for a specific style want to hear that style immediately, not wait through unrelated clips to get there.
